Advantages of tartar cleaning:

  • Avoiding visible plaque on the teeth
  • Postponement of dental tissue disease (caries)
  • Avoiding gum disease (periodontal disease)
  • Keeping teeth shiny
  • Completely painless procedure

At least three times a year, it would be desirable to clean tartar, which is formed when dental plaque is not removed regularly. Tartar is formed by plaque, which is a colourless layer of saliva, impurities and bacteria, which is mineralised. The most effective professional cleaning of tartar is done with an ultrasonic device. It is a painless procedure that is performed without local anesthesia. The cleaning area is anaesthetised for patients with hypersensitivity of the tooth necks. Once the plaque has been removed, the teeth must be polished with an abrasive polishing paste. This makes the surface of the teeth smooth and less susceptible to tartar formation. Patients are recommended to avoid coloured food and drinks for at least two to three hours after the procedure. Cleaning the teeth from tartar extends the life of the teeth and keeps them healthier.

Protocol for cleaning dental plaque and tartar:

One visit to the dentist is required for complete cleaning of dental plaque and tartar. Depending on the amount of tartar, the treatment lasts from 15 to 30 minutes.
